Madyaker Dambusters Event
July 21st 2007

Washburn, North Yorkshire

RUNNING, RIDING, RACING!
Whether in teams or as a solo event, competitors will battle it out to become the champions of this new combination sport. Sprinting the entire length of the white water section of the
River Washburn, paddlers will enjoy grades 2, 3 and 4 water and feel the burn as the river winds along its 3km course. A quick wet exit leads into the running event where racers will have to negotiate boulders, gravel, bogs and spectators! Meanwhile, the cyclists will be heaving themselves to the top of the MTB course with big rock dodges, slippery weirs, bog sections and tree lined avenues before cutting a groove down the long, high speed down-hill section. This event is not for the faint-hearted and reigning champion Pete Astles will take a lot of beating having placed first on BOTH days in 2005 - an unparalleled feat of endurance, strength and ability.

Entrants of all ability and background are invited to step up and may do so on the day of the event or in advance. Naturally, all competitors assume responsibility for their own ability, safety and well-being (although marshals and support will be on hand to give guidance where appropriate and a full brief & course-walk is mandatory before competing). As with all other extreme participation sports, it is recommended that personal insurance is taken out as, given the nature of the sports involved, Madyaker nor any associates can assume responsibility for competitors.

The event site sits at the foot of the Dam on Thruscross reservoir. Camping is available locally (enquire at the event or in the Hopper Lane Pub on the A59 on top of the hill to the East of Blubberhouses. The event party(s) will be in the Hopper Lane pub too, with some rather special things on the cards... not to mention the frenzy that will be the whole weekend given the river-side activities, trade stands and tunes!

In conjunction with the PeakUK Challenge series 2007.
